Waste Not, Want Not (Open) Empty Waste Not, Want Not (Open)

OOC: Don't know if this will actually go anywhere but I thought that I may as well post it anyway. Nothing ventured nothing gained after all.
If your character has any reason to be lurking around a hospital in the 12th ward and won't automatically try to kill Ando then feel free to join in.

It was almost half past nine at night and Ando was being sneaky. Evening shifts were usually the best with regards to pilfering opportunities, being early enough for there to be scheduled operations during the first few hours and late enough to catch plenty of the night time up-tick in traumatic injuries, and tonight was no exception. The bag in his hand contained two separate bags, which in turn contained a ruptured spleen that was still inside a human body less than two hours ago, and a deformed but marrow-filled and unusually meaty hip bone respectively.

Problem was, he couldn't just walk out the main door with them at the end of his shift since he had to collect his things and change out of his overalls before leaving, so now he currently enroute to Hiding Spot Number 7, aka the bins for non-medical waste to stash his haul for later collection. At this time of night things were hectic enough that no one would notice him making a detour after he clocked out in half an hour; they barely noticed him when it was quiet.

Besides, after working here for years he sort of considered the hospital his territory, or at least the more out of the way parts of it anyway, and as such he knew how to get around unseen and avoid the security cameras. Half an hour before his shift ended was a good compromise between stashing his haul late enough that it was unlikely that more would come his way before the shift ended and so necessitate a second trip and being early enough that if someone noticed his absence from the incinerator room he could plausibly claim to have been on a coffee or cigarette break (not that he actually smoked mind you; enough smokers' lungs had passed though his hands to put him off that particular bad habit for life).

Reaching the bins, he had one last quick look around to be on the safe side then stuffed the bag under one of the bins. Hopefully between the double-bagging and the smell of the bin's contents it wouldn't attract any ghouls before he retrieved it. Hiroshi had been worrying about that quite a bit recently but then the break in and then the debacle at the cafe had sent him into over-protective mode in general. He'd walked Ando to the train station and waited for the train with him every morning that he'd been on the early shift and now that he was on evenings Ando knew that the ghoul would be waiting for him when he got off the train home. As nice as it was to have someone show they cared about him, it was getting to be a bit much.

Dusting off his hands, he headed back to the incinerator room. His shift wasn't over yet and there was still a pile of medical waste to be burned.

Kanshi sniffed, searching for the aroma of any other investigator such as herself. When she found nothing but the stench of pollution, she moved from her hiding spot and into a secluded area. Kanshi wondered why she always ended up in the weirdest places when she went to explore. It's not like you normally go sneak around hospitals in your free time, but curiosity and boredom can go a long way. She crept along the shadows of the building, occasionally looking at the windows above her. Kanshi marvelled at how many humans would actually trust someone enough to let them cut them open and operate on their unconscious bodies. She wondered how many doctors abused that faithfulness.

After some more lurking, Kanshi came across the familiar sight of a dumpster, scent included. Most people would have turned their nose the other direction, but Kanshi was not most people. If anything, trash is the best way to find out about a person. How else were you supposed to find out about someone's most private affairs?

"Another man's trash is another man's treasure." Kanshi remarked as she rummaged through the bin. It seemed pretty normal, seeing as how Kanshi expected there to be used medical supplies. There was pretty average junk in there, and it was almost disappointing, but Kanshi kept her persistence. She found a bag come across her hands, and to her indulgence, she felt squelch in her grip. Without hesitation, Kanshi opened the bag...to find another bag? Now she knew someone was hiding something, or the substance seeped out of bags easily, either way, it would be interesting. Her nose was clouded with the stench of some cigarette buds when she opened the second bag, so it surprised her that she didn't find out sooner. A ruptured spleen rested in the bag, and Kanshi murmured something about jackpot.

His shift finally over and back in his street clothes of jeans and a navy blue hoodie under his jacket, Ando headed to his hiding spot to collect that night's haul before going home. His hood was pulled up and as always he was careful to avoid the security cameras. In his head he thought about the rest of his evening. Go home, see Hiroshi, have a shower to wash off the smell of burnt medical waste that clung to him, and have something to eat. Either he or Hiroshi would sort out his haul; Hiroshi might have the bone or he might sell it, but the spleen would definitely be sold. One of their customers had a thing for spleens for some weird reason and was willing to pay a premium for them, even if they were ruptured. A nice bit of extra cash for the rainy day fund.

Where the bins were kept was quite dark, which was a good thing with regards to what he was up to, however it also meant that, combined with the angle of his approach, he didn't notice someone digging through the bins until he was a bit too close for his liking. Stopping in his tracks, he swiftly started to retreat. His stash being found would be bad but it being connected to him would be a lot worse. Best to make himself scarce and avoid using that hiding place in future.
